Internships

Thank you for your interest in supporting Immigrant Justice Coalition! Please fill out the form to be considered for an internship spot.

 

The application dates are as follows:

  • Summer- opens mid Nov. closes  late Feb

  • Fall- opens late March closes late May

  • Spring- opens Sept  Closes Nov.

Internship Application for Immigrant Justice Coalition

The purpose of this internship is to support the mission of the Watauga County Immigrant Justice Coalition by assisting with outreach, communication, event coordination, and community support activities.


Qualifications

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (or other relevant languages).

  • Passion for immigrant justice, advocacy, and community outreach.

  • Strong communication and organization skills.

  • Willingness to collaborate and work as part of a team.


Responsibilities the intern agrees to:

  • Provide interpretation and translation for community members as needed, and assist with translating posts or documents for the organization.

  • Work with the Outreach Subcommittee and Outreach Coordinator to plan and support fundraising and outreach events, including attending and assisting at those events.

  • Help manage volunteers alongside the Student/Intern Coordinator.

  • Use IJC social media to promote events and create posts as directed.

  • Update the IJC website with resources, events, and photos as requested.

  • Work on monthly newsletter with guidance from intern coordinator

  • Maintain consistent and thorough communication with intern coordinator

  • Attend weekly outreach meetings, Executive Board meetings and community meetings

  • Collaborate with other subcommittees and members of the executive board as needed

  • Assist with accessing, picking up, dropping off and organizing materials at the storage unit when needed.

  • Take notes during meetings attended and maintain organized documentation.

  • Assist in creating flyers and promotional materials for events and announcements.

  • Take on additional projects relevant to outreach, advocacy, community support, or administrative coordination as they arise.
