
Faith Action ID
IJC and Faith Action from Greensboro have partnered to host a Faith Action ID Drive events for the High Country community.
Faith Action "provides cardholders with a verifiable form of identification that can be used as a tool by law enforcement, health centers, schools, nonprofits, businesses, and cultural arts organizations to better identify, serve, and protect them. The ID card provides greater dignity and access to cardholders, while building greater understanding, trust, and cooperation with community partners." Quick Guide
To receive a FaithAction ID, participants must:

Attend a mandatory orientation

Provide proof of name

Provide proof of current address

ID cards are free and must be renewed each year

Helps prevent unintended arrests for not having identification

Valid for local schools, hospitals, organizations, and Boone PD
-
Certain businesses offer discounts to ID holders
-
Reduces fear by improving community trust and safety

/ Limitations
-
Not a government-issued ID or driver’s license
-
Will not stop prosecution if you commit a crime
-
Many banks, airports, or federal buildings will not accept the ID
-
Does not offer any form of immigration status
